風冷發(fā)電機組:柴油機為單缸發(fā)動機、雙缸發(fā)動機的發(fā)電機,用1個到多個大風扇對著發(fā)電機機體強制排風散熱。一般以汽油發(fā)電機和小型柴油發(fā)電機為主.風冷發(fā)電機組需要安裝在敞開式艙室內(nèi),噪聲較大;風冷發(fā)電機組結(jié)構簡單、故障率低、啟動性能好,所需空氣量少,風扇消耗功率低,油耗也較低,沒有凍裂或過熱沸騰危險,利于維護;風冷發(fā)電機組適用于高原或缺水或寒冷的地方,不必考慮加水、沸點、凍結(jié)等方面的問題,因受到熱負荷和機械負荷限制,功率一般都比較小。

水冷發(fā)電機組:柴油機為主要是四缸、六缸、十二缸等大機組,機體內(nèi)部與外部的水循環(huán),通過散熱水箱和風扇帶走機體內(nèi)部產(chǎn)生的熱量。水冷發(fā)電機組以大型發(fā)電機組較多:水冷發(fā)電機組結(jié)構復雜,制造難度相對較大,對環(huán)境的要求比較多,在高原使用時,需要考慮降功率使用和冷卻液水的沸點降低,要通過加入一定比例的添加劑來改善沸點和冰點;水冷發(fā)電機組冷卻效果理想,相同的技術參數(shù)的電機,水冷的體積小,重量輕,能量密度大,傳熱性能比較好;大功率發(fā)電機組一般為水冷發(fā)電機組。
